Symmetry in beauty

Hello everyone!

Today I will talk about something that called my attention, which is the directed relation between beauty and geometry. This is because, people who are more attractive or that call more attention are those that has a symmetric face. In an involuntary way, it is prettier as we can see in several buildings or some parts of the nature.

For this, symmetry makes beauty.

In the 70th, Stephen Marquardt used the faces of famous ones with higher canons of beauty for example Marilyn Monroe, and took the measures to make a mask with the exact measurements of facial beauty. This collects the ideal distances between the different parts of the face:

The people whose face coincides with the measures of this mask are considered to be the most beautiful women and men in the world.

video about geometrical forms

Hello everyone!

Today I will show you a video which you can use when you are in class with your students. From my point of view, I think this video is useful for students from the first cycle of Primary Education because, as you can see in the BOJA, they are starting knowing what are the principal plane and spatial forms:
"4.1. Formas planas y espaciales: círculo, cuadrado, rectángulo, cubo y esfera. Sus elementos."

If you analyse the video, you can observe some details that make the video an excellent resource for your children.

You can observe:
- Too much examples in each of the forms that you can see in the real life, as balls, trees, traffic signs, etc.
- The person who is explaining talks slowly, so students can adquire better the figures and the connection with some objects.
- At the end of the video, it appears a summary of all the figures which they saw during it.
- The video introduces some forms as a heart or a star, so the students can see that are forms too.

Here, you can see the video:

Geometrical sheets

Hello again!

Here you can find most of sheets to use in class to improve the geometrical knowledge. It is good because you can find sheets to all the courses and with good level.

You can find the sheets here.

Las ecuaciones son sólo la parte aburrida de la matemática. Trato de ver las cosas en términos de geometría. (Stephen Hawking)

Learn geometry playing

Good morning!

Today, I will bring a good resource to carry out with students in class. Using the playing methodology, students will learn some basic aspects of geometry, as forming objects with geometrical figures, principally the triangle and the square.
The resource was created by Enric Puig Amant and it is in Spanish. Try to use it!
